Road trip movies excite the hell out of us no matter what genre they belong to. The thing about such films is that you never know what’s coming. It could be a fun light-hearted comedy, a teary drama, freaking romance or a complete horror showdown. Nevertheless, here’s a list of the Best Road Trip Movies you should check out.
WE’RE THE MILLERS

Released on 7th August 2013, ‘We’re the Millers’ is an American crime comedy film that was directed by one of the best, Rawson M. Thurber. The movie stars Jennifer Aniston, Jason Sudeikis, Emma Roberts, Will Poulter, Nick Offerman, Kathryn Hahn, Molly Quinn, and Ed Helms.
The story revolves around a drug dealer (played by Sudekis) whose job is to smuggle drugs across the border. Things take a turn for the worse, and he now has to pretend to belong to a family of Miller. It’s not a real family, but his neighbours and a homeless girl who signed up to help him. They embark on a mission to journey from Mexico and into the United States.
THE LEISURE SEEKER

Directed by Paolo Virzi, ‘The Leisure Seeker’ was released in the year 2017. This drama movie features hot rising stars such as, stars Helen Mirren and Donald Sutherland who were seen together for the first time after their 1990 film Bethune: The Making of a Hero.
The plot revolves John and Ella, who go on a memorable trip in their Winnebago vehicle. The journey for the last time from Wellesley, Massachusetts to the Ernest Hemingway House in Florida all before John’s dementia erases his memory and Ella’s cancer catch her up. Helen Mirren was awarded a Golden Globe nomination for her splendid performance.
THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE

This 1974 American horror film is sure to send shivers down your spine. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre was directed by Tobe Hooper and written and co-produced by Hooper and Kim Henkel. The horror movie features Marilyn Burns as Sally Hardesty, Paul A. Partain as Franklin Hardesty, Edwin Neal as the hitchhiker, Jim Siedow as the proprietor and Gunnar Hansen as the creepy and scary Leatherface.
How is this one of Best Road Trip Movies you ask? Well, the plot revolves around a group of friends who plan to go on a road trip but fall into the hands of bloodthirsty cannibals. The movie was marked to be based on a true story. However, a large part of the film is purely fictional.
ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: THE ROAD CHIP

Okay, so I know the rating isn’t that high, but trust me, this is one of the Best Road Trip Movies. If if you’re looking for a fun, light-hearted animated film to watch with your family, then give this movie a try. Released in 2018, the plot revolves around three chipmunks named Alvin, Simon and Theodore who embark on a road trip to bring back their foster father Dave.
The movie stars Jason Lee, Tony Hale, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Josh Green, and Bella Thorne. The credit for the voices of the sweet chipmunks goes to Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler, Jesse McCartney and the Chipettes Kaley Cuoco (replacing Amy Poehler), Anna Faris and Christina Applegate.
