As you’ve read the title, I’m sure you’re as excited to read our list of 6 Shows Like Brooklyn Nine-Nine as we at The Hollywood Tribune family are to share it with you! Right now, there are a lot of sitcoms running but few shows have had an impact like Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Since its release in 2013, the popularity of this show has grown immensely. The show’s writing and individual performances have made the show a modern classic according to its fans.
The supporting cast comes with their own perspective on love and life, which is a great aspect which a lot of sitcoms failed to work upon. “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” can be best described as a workplace sitcom, and I’m sure you have enjoyed this series. Therefore we from The Hollywood Tribune are recommending 6 Shows Like Brooklyn Nine-Nine you can watch while you wait for season eight of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which is reportedly being shot all over again!
6. Parks and Recreation
While thinking about what to recommend, the first show that comes to my mind is for sure Parks and Recreation. There’s a valid reason for that, as the show is co-created by Michael Schur (also co-creator of Brooklyn Nine-Nine). This comedy series is about the Parks Department of Pawnee, Indiana starring the phenomenal Amy Poehler (as Leslie Knope) as a mid-level perky bureaucrat and has a supporting cast that includes Rashida Jones, Paul Schneider, Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Adam Scott and Chris Pratt among others.
5. Silicon Valley
This show does not have sneaky cops or hard-nosed detectives like “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”, but it stands with its head held high when it comes to delivering sardonic humour. This comedy series set in Silicon Valley is about five men who founded a startup company. The story follows the problems that start-ups face and the work, disappointment and failure it faces to become successful.
4. The Good Place
It is a feel-good comedy with a beautiful plot and a talented cast. Once again, created by Michael Schurs, who is known for creating witty comedies that have diverse characters, and The Good Place is no exception to that rule. Kristen Bell stars as Eleanor Shellstop, who has died and has been sent to The Good Place as a case of mistaken identity. She was brought to The Good Place in place of another Eleanor Shellstop who lived her life by serving others.
The cast also has Tahini, a former socialite and philanthropist, Jianyu, a former Buddhist and Janet, an artificial intelligence there to help them all. The show is filled with pop culture and references to popular philosophies and other ethical dilemmas. This show is forking good!
3. Superstore
A comedy about a group of employees who work at cloud 9, big-box store in St. Louis, Missouri. In the pilot two employees and along with them we get to know about the rest of the staff working there. The story follows Amy Dubanowski, a floor supervisor, and her staff as they try to get through days working in Cloud 9 with an eclectic group of people as colleagues and customers.
2. Veronica Mars
If you enjoyed Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s perfect blend of crime and comedy, this may be your time to check out Veronica Mars. This show has been described as a mystery wrapped in a comedy inside a teen drama. The story follows the story of Veronica Mars, played by Kristen Bell, who is a high school student, whose father is a private investigator.
1. Reno 911
Comedy and cops seem like a rare combination, and maybe that’s the reason why we love Brooklyn Nine-Nine in the first place. Reno 911 is a mockumentary-style parody of law enforcement documentary shows (“Cops”), and it is just as ridiculous as you can very well imagine. In this series, we follow inefficient cops, as they keep falling in trouble while answering 911 calls.
The show is also excellent at integrating guest stars into its action and when added to its outstanding cast only makes the show even more amazing.
We have come to the end of this list, which featured “6 shows like Brooklyn Nine-Nine”. Do stay tuned to The Hollywood Tribune for such lists and more from Hollywood and Beyond.
