Utopia the Channel 4 drama aired in early 2013 and it immediately made an impact. The show had a mysterious conspiracy plot, the black humour show became a cult hit, and it raised eyebrows for its violent nature. Due to its complicated plot or violent nature, it was cancelled after two seasons.
HBO bought the rights of the show for a U.S. remake in 2014, with David Fincher set to direct it. Sadly, that did not happen as Amazon purchased the rights in 2018 and made Gillian Flynn the show-runner.

As of yet, there is no official release date, but some details have been revealed. Season 1 of Amazon prime’s Utopia will have 8 episodes, as per Amazon’s order. Currently, the first season was being filmed in 2019, considering that promotion of this show has already started, the show is expected to be out by late 2020 or early 2021.

While the premiere date may be yet to be confirmed, the cast is complete. Cast members include Sasha Lane as Jessica Hyde who is described as “a mysterious woman on the run with a ruthless attitude and many secrets”, Dan Byrd as Ian who is described as “a mundane office dragged into a deadly conspiracy”, Ashleigh LaThrop as Becky described as “a student with a strong interest in a strange graphic novel called The Utopia Experiments”.
With them is Javon Walton playing Grant who is described as “an aggressive youngster who claims to have an unpublished Utopia sequel manuscript”, Desmin Borges playing Wilson Wilson described as “an intelligent but reclusive geek with an eye for conspiracy theories”, they are joined by Rainn Wilson playing Michael, Christopher Denham playing Arby, Farrah Mackenzie playing Alice.
Other cast members include John Cusack playing Dr Kevin Christie and Corey Michael Smith as Thomas Christie.
What Will Be The Plot Of Amazon Prime’s Utopia?


The official synopsis reads as, “Utopia centres on a group of comic fans who meet online and bond over their obsession of a seemingly fictional comic called, “Utopia”. Together, Ian (Dan Byrd), Becky (Ashleigh LaThrop), Samantha (Jessica Rothe), Wilson Wilson (Desmin Borges) and Grant (Javon “Wanna” Walton) unearth hidden meanings cloaked within the pages of “Utopia”, predicting threats to humanity.
They realize these are not just the makings of a conspiracy; they are genuine dangers coming alive right now in their world. The high-stakes adventure brings the group face-to-face with the comic’s famed central character, Jessica Hyde (Sasha Lane), who joins them on their mission to save the world while harbouring secrets of her own.
The series also stars John Cusack as Dr Kevin Christie, Rainn Wilson as Dr Michael Stearns, Farrah Mackenzie as Alice, Christopher Denham as Arby, and Cory Michael Smith as Thomas Christie.”
