Marvel Studios gave Captain Marvel 2 a new release date of July 8, 2022. It is a long haul, but it is definitely worth the wait. We are not surprised that Captain Marvel is going to come back to the big screen.
Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios chief confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 that work on Captain Marvel 2 is already under process, but other than that no other details were revealed.
Since the sequel has something new to offer as the crew of the film itself is undergoing some major changes.
Who Is The New Director Of Captain Marvel 2?
The directors- Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, who made the first film, are reportedly not going to be a part of the sequel. Taking the baton from them is Nia DaCosta, who will be helming the reins from them.
According to Deadline, Marvel Studios hired Nia DaCosta to direct Captain Marvel 2. We will see her next work in Captain Marvel 2, which follows the script by Megan McDonnell who, also wrote the limited mini-series WandaVision. Marvel Studio has finally found a female for Captain Marvel 2!
It took Marvel Studios more than a decade to launch their first solo female-led film, but they finally made it happen in 2019 with Captain Marvel. Better late than never, we’d say. With the film killing it at the Box Office, a sequel was inevitable. Even though a lot of critics said that the was not received well by the audience at large, the final verdict was quite a mix of opinions.
Apart from Endgame, fans had also been anticipating the return of Captain Marvel in her next film. The franchise that gave us the Marvel Cinematic Universe has the tendency of green flagging sequels and making fans happy.
Nia DaCosta And Her Work Before Captain Marvel 2:
Nia DaCosta is the new director of Captain Marvel 2. She is the woman who is bringing us the horror thriller movie, ‘Candyman’ which, is scheduled to release on October 15 this year. It is a sequel/reboot of the original produced by Jordan Peele. She is also known for her directorial work on the film ‘Little Woods’ starring Lily James and Tessa Thompson.
Marvel Phase 4 Is Revolutionary:
Ever since Endgame concluded and Marvel Phase 4 was announced, fans could not stop thinking about Captain Marvel’s next mission. With the unfortunate delay in the release of Black Widow due to Coronavirus, the studio has ensured a new date for almost every Phase 4 movie. Luckily, Captain Marvel got its release date, but we still are unsure if the film will come out on July 8 as said.
Since the film is still two long years away, all the details of this movie are under wraps for now. The movie is most likely going to be set in the present day of the MCU, which will be 2024, post the Endgame and Spider-man: Far From Home.
We still don’t know if the other characters in the MCU will appear alongside Danvers in Captain marvel 2. Fans are contemplating the possibility of seeing Kamla Khan join in as Ms. Marvel. Since DaCosta has previously worked with Tessa Thompson, we just might see Valkyrie make an appearance in the upcoming sequel.
