The genius filmmaker Christopher Nolan is widely known for presenting the world of cinema with such gems that one has to take at least a few days to let them sink in and ponder upon. He is currently gearing up to release his upcoming film ‘Tenet’ in the near future. Earlier the filmmaker released the war film ‘Dunkirk’ in the year 2017.
What stands out the most about this highly awaited summer release is the fact that Nolan wrote the screenplay of the film in 5 years and took more than a decade to finally decide the central ideas ‘Tenet’ will be based upon. He was once found saying, “I’ve been working on this iteration of the script for about six or seven years.” You can watch the trailer for ‘Tenet’ below.
The reason why Nolan’s work is one of a kind is also that he is known to be quite enigmatic, meaning he keeps most of the details about his releases on the sly until the audience can go and watch the cinematic masterpieces in all its glory and get blown away by it minute by minute.
However, this is all we know till date regarding one of the most anticipated films yet. So, the enigma of Nolan continues…
Tenet Release Date: When will the film hit the theatres?
As the coronavirus pandemic continues to grip the entire world the release date of ‘Tenet’ has already been delayed twice. As per the recent statement issued by the ‘Warner Bros. Pictures’, the film will release on 12 August 2020 on IMAX. Apart from this, two trailers of the film have been released so far. The first trailer was released 6 months ago, whereas the recent trailer took the internet by storm merely a month ago.
Tenet Plot: What can be expected from the storyline?
Like all the other Christopher Nolan films, most of the details are under wraps. However, an official synopsis has stated that the film will be based on a secret agent on a mission to prevent World War 3. It has also been revealed that the film will introduce the concept of ‘time inversion’ which is different from ‘time travel’. The name itself of the film, ‘Tenet’ is a palindrome, meaning it remains the same when spelt backwards.
Chances are the plot will transition in such a way that it will repeat itself backwards during the second half of the story. It is too soon to tell though. In one of the Interviews, when asked, Robert Pattinson, one of the stars from the film said that had Nolan not been doing this project, it would have been an “impossible movie”.
Tenet Cast: Who will be seen in the forthcoming film?
Nolan is collaborating with a bunch of new individuals who haven’t worked with him previously. This includes John David Washington, the son of Denzel Washington (known for BlacKkKlansman, The Old Man & the Gun) as the protagonist along with Robert Pattinson, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Clémence Poesy, Elizabeth Debicki, Himesh Patel and Dimple Kapadia. However, other faces which we have grown familiar with, thanks to the filmmaker’s previous work will also be featured in the film. Tenet will also star, Michael Caine (Interstellar, The Dark Knight) and Kenneth Branagh (Dunkirk).
Tenet OST: Who is behind the music of Tenet?
If you thought Hans Zimmer, sorry, he isn’t the composer for this film. After working for Zimmer for years, Nolan has handed over the baton to Ludwig Göransson to carry on the legacy for the soul-stirring music featured in Nolan films which have a separate fan base. Göransson has previously worked on the Creed series and Marvel’s Venom. He also has a Grammy as well as an Oscar to his name for his work on the superhero film ‘Black Panther’, known for its high cultural significance.
As the movie buffs wait for the release with the bated breath, the enigma of ‘Tenet’ is yet to unfold…
