From Wonder Woman to The Batman, and from Flash to Shazam, we got more than we anticipated from the two day DC Fandome event.
The two day DC Fandome is over, and footage and surprising information that we got from the various panels have left us all dumbfounded.
I will just cut to the chase, a lot was revealed in the event. While many of us kept up with the event, some of you might not have, or you might have missed something here and there and want a short recap of the event, so here are all the highlights of the DC Fandome presented to you in systemic order.
The headings are according to which panels came first:
Wonder Woman 1984
The DC Fandome kick-started with the next D.C. movie that is going to hit the theatres featuring a new trailer for the movie, a detailed Q&A, and then some surprise guests.
Chris Pine, Gal Gadot, Pedro Pascal and Kristen Wiig were the cast members that joined the panel along with the director Patty Jenkins. The panel members answered all the questions ranging from where they got the inspiration for the 80s costumes to who would win in a tennis match between Cheetah and Wonder Woman(asked by D.C. Fan and tennis superstar Venus Williams)
Though the biggest highlights of the panel were the appearance of Lynda Carter, the original wonder woman, and the new trailer for the movie which finally showed us what Wiig’s Cheetah would look like in full form.
You can watch the trailer here:
The Flash Movie (Officially A flashpoint Crossover)
Well, the Flash movie is far away right now with a summer 2022 release, but that isn’t going to stop D.C. from promoting the film. The Flash Panel was less of a panel and more of a promotion featurette.
The 10-minute featurette had the cast member Ezra Miller, director Andy Muschietti, producer Barbara Muschietti, and screenwriter Christina Hodson.
The panel didn’t tell us much about the movie or even what the story is going to be like, but Hodson and Muschietti confirmed that the film is going to be a time travel story.
Also, the big thing about the panel is the promise by Hodson that “The cinematic D.C. Multiverse is going to be born out of this movie.” which was confirmed by Miller. So the Flash movie is going to introduce us to the multiverse and show us how the many shows and movies over the years come together, which will be amazing if done right
The panel did not have a teaser as the movie has not started filming yet, but we got a look at the new suit for Flash which is different from the Justice League on. IThe Flash now wears a far more stylish costume, created by none other than Bruce Wayne.
The Suicide Squad
James Gunn’s, The Suicide Squad is all the hype right now. The panel was as amazing as it could be and kicked off with a Q&A with the director where Gunn revealed that he was most excited to write Harley Quinn and that his movie will somewhat be a direct sequel to John Ostrander’s defining Suicide Squad comics.
The biggest news of the panel was that we finally got to know the full cast of the movie and here is the list of the same:
- Viola Davis – Amanda Waller
- Joel Kinnaman – Colonel Rick Flag
- Michael Rooker – Savant
- Flula Borg – Javelin
- Margot Robbie – Harley Quinn
- David Dastmalchian – Polka-Dot Man
- Daniela Melchior – Ratcatcher 2
- Idris Alba – Bloodsport
- Mayling Ng – Mongal
- Peter Capaldi – The Thinker
- Alice Braga – Sol Soria
- Pete Davidson – Blackguard
- Nathan Fillion – T.D.K.
- Sean Gunn – Weasel
- Jai Courtney – Captain Boomerang
- John Cena – Peacemaker
- Steve Agee – King Shark
- Juan Diego Botto – General Silvio Luna
Now you can get to preparing the possibilities of how many and which characters make it out of the movie alive.
Justice League: The Snyder Cut
Here we are, finally with some news about the upcoming Snyder Cut of the Justice League, the very fact that this movie is going to be released, even if it is on HBO Max, show the powers of the D.C. fans.
The panel was more of a presentation and featured the director Zack Snyder with guest appearances from the cast of the movie such as Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot and Ezra Miller.
Kicking off with a Q&A, some serious questions were put up for the director, such as who is his favourite superhero after Batman? It’s Doctor Manhattan.
He also explained that he was very excited to focus on the story of Cyborg and that we will see a lot more of Flash in the movie.
The Snyder Cut of Justice League will debut in 2021 on HBO Max and will be divided into four parts, one hour each. After the release of the four parts, there will also be a release of the whole movie stitched together in case someone prefers it that way. They are also working on the international distribution as HBO Max is limited to the U.S. at the moment.
The highlight of this DC Fandome panel was the trailer of Snyder’s Justice League, which gave us the first look at Darkseid. Well, you can watch the trailer here to see how breathtaking it is.
Black Adam
Just like The Flash, Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam movie is yet to start shooting, so there were no trailers or movie clips available for the movie yet, but we got to see some exciting things in this DC Fandome panel.
We got a motion comic promo drawn by BossLogic and Jim Lee, and a voiceover by Dwayne Johnson, who narrates the story of Black Adam’s origin 5000 years ago.
Johnson answered plenty of questions from the fans and said that he is very excited to play the character and is very intrigued by the origin story of Adam as a slave.
Here is the art that previewed at the panel.
Noah Centineo is going to play the role of Atom Smasher, and the other characters that we can expect to see in the movie are Doctor Fate, Hawkman, and Cyclone.
SHAZAM!: The Fury of the Gods
The DC Fandome panel for SHAZAM! Was a very short one and featured a Q&A where not many things about the movie were discussed but still was one of the best groups over the two days as it featured the comedic genius of Zachary Levi and his unlimited energy.
There were a lot of other panellists too, including Asher Angel, Jack Dolan Grazer, Faithe Herman, Meagan Good, David F. Sandberg, Adam Brody, and apparently Sinbad.
There was a lot of discussion as to what the panel members wanted to see in the sequel, including some weird suggestions like jet packs and unicorns. The biggest revelation of the panel was the title of the sequel that is already spoiled in the heading, but yet again it is going to be SHAZAM!: Fury of the Gods.
Matt Reeves’ The Batman
Finally, we come to the most anticipated panel of the DC Fandome, the one which features the upcoming Batman movie by Matt Reeves starring Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne and Batman.
The 30 minted panel solely discussed The Batman with the director Matt Reeves. The new Batman, Robert Pattinson, introduced the group, but it was the fast-talking Reeves who did the most of the, well, talking.
The director revealed a lot about the October 2021 movie. As we already know, the new film won’t be an origin story but would instead focus on the second year of Bruce Wayne as The Dark knight. Reeves revealed that this bat is still learning his way around the whole vigilante thing and that he is far from perfect.
Reeves also discussed the upcoming HBO Max tv series that is going to accompany the movie. Unlike the film, the show will focus on the first year of Bruce as The Batman and will to be told through the perspective of the dirty cops in Gotham, focusing on one specific cop and how he reacts when the vigilante comes to light (in the dark).
The highlight of the panel and the one thing that all Batman and D.C. fans were praying for was not the fantastic movie art and poster that we got to see but the breathtaking teaser for the movie that premiered at the DC Fandome. How Reeves managed to come up with such a fantastic trailer when only 25 percent of the film is shot has baffled everyone.
The teaser of Batman promises everything we want from the movie and more. You can watch the teaser here:
The other smaller panels to be featured on the DC Fandome included a list of upcoming games, movies, and tv shows such as The Flash T.V. Panel, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Titans, Legacy of the Bat and Gotham Knights.
Well, we are more excited about the movies, now more than ever, and don’t worry if you missed this event because the DC Fandome returns next month on the 12th of September, titled as DC FanDome: Explore the Multiverse which will feature another 100-hours of content.
Also, another piece of information for all the Titans (T.V. show) fans, season 3 of the show is going to feature Red Hood so expect a lot of killing and blood.
