Oh my my, am I imagining things or did the temperature just go up a few notches?
Created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, Hollywood season 1 released on Netflix on May 1, 2020. With a star-studded cast consisting of Darren Criss, Laura Harrier, David Corenswet, Jeremy Pope, Samara Weaving, and Jake Picking, Hollywood sets itself up to be a must-watch series. Other highlights include Patti LuPone, Holland Taylor, Jim Parsons and Dylan McDermott, to name a few.
The series is set in an alternate version of after-the-WWII Hollywood. The show imagines what might have happened if studio power-brokers had made room for the more marginalised people in their films. And now the big question is, “Will Hollywood season 2 happen?”
Rumours Around A Potential Second Season
For the time being, Netflix has shared no indication of whether they will be giving Hollywood a follow-up instalment. Which is just plain sad, because the show had a lot of potential. Though we are cautiously optimistic about a Hollywood season 2 after Murphy replied to a fan on Instagram saying, “Well HOLLYWOOD was planned as a limited series, but it’s become so popular that everyone is asking for another season. So who knows? I sure do love this cast though. xo”
If Hollywood season 2 does get a go-ahead, it seems likely that many of the cast members would return, especially given Murphy’s comments about how much he enjoyed working with them.
Potential Storylines For The Second Season
The finale of the show was solid. Everything was tied up with no cliffhangers of any sort. There’s a chance that Murphy could adopt his American Horror Story anthology format, telling an entirely different story and casting some new faces to help tell it. And we’re no strangers to American Horror story, are we?
It would be interesting to see the series jump to the ’50s if a second season were to happen. The 1950s was a time when the emergence of TV was threatening the film industry, careers of prominent figures were destroyed due to rampant communist blacklisting. It would definitely make an exciting storyline with different plots and twists. Thank me later, Ryan. Use the same actors though; It would be terrible not to see David Corenswet’s sweet face on our screens.
Or…..future Hollywood season 2 could explore the continued fight against discrimination of women, colourism and discrimination against members of the LGBTQ+ community. The battle is, unfortunately, far from over even today. Alternatively, it could explore the dark side of fame. Because as we all know, too much of a good thing ends up being bad. But, these are just theories, we do not know if the series would get revived for a second season.

Considering nothing can be produced right now because of the ongoing pandemic and the fact that Ryan Murphy also has The Politician on his plate, we probably wouldn’t be getting Hollywood season 2 for a while anyway.
We’re just as heartbroken as you are, and I think it best that in the meantime, we come up with as many theories as we possibly can for a potential Hollywood season 2. So let your imaginations run wild in the comments, and be sure to share this article with any other fans/potential fans that you may know.
