When season 3 ended with a bloody bang Ozark Season 4 was bound to be renewed by Netflix. Fans cannot wait to find out for how long will Marty and Wendy Byrde last at the top? The platform has also recently confirmed that Ozark Season 4 would be the final instalment of this crime series on Netflix. But that’s not it; the final season will be a jumbo-sized narrative as it has a lot of loose ends to tie up.
Here’s everything that you need to know about Ozark Season 4 ahead of its release—
The critically acclaimed show was renewed for the fourth and the final season on March 27, this year and it is going to be a huge one too. The last season of the grim drama show will consist of 14 episodes, and they will be divided into two parts just so that fans can relish it for a little longer.
In a statement given to EW, showrunner Chris Mundy said, “We’re so happy Netflix recognized the importance of giving Ozark more time to end the Byrdes’ saga right.” He also added, “It’s been such a great adventure for all of us—both on-screen and off—so we’re thrilled to get the chance to bring it home in the most fulfilling way possible.”
Although the official release date has not yet been declared, the showrunner has promised that is going to be worth the wait. We predict that the show will come out sometime in the second half of 2021.
What Is The Possible Plot of Ozark Season 4?
So far, in Season 3, Marty(Bateman) and Wendy(Linney) have fully transformed into full-blown crime lords of Missouri Ozarks, and they are building a riverboat casino to flush out cartel money.
But going into business with any cartel demands balls of steel as Byrdes learns it the hard way.
The showrunner teased with a possible plotline that “it will be about whether or not Ruth (Garner) really can create something of her own that she wants and is sustainable, or if she wants something else,” he shared. “And I think it will be about if the Byrdes can they turn the biggest mistake of their lives into this huge advantage, and how much will karma catch up with them if they do?” He told Entertainment Weekly in an interview.
Towards the end of Season 3, we saw that Navarro chooses Byrde over Helen, thus giving Wendy the assurance she asked for. Marty and Wendy have had way too many near-death experiences in the previous season.
Marty felt like he was hanging by a thread ever since Omar Navarro(Solis) began taking a special interest in their lives. Meanwhile, we also saw Wendy making big decisions which had huge consequences— having her bipolar brother Ben killed after he posed a threat to her family.
She also murdered Cade Langmore, and although she regrets it, she seems to have developed a sort of blood lust by going on a murder spree. It seems inevitable that she could potentially go next for Omar Navarro, for his special interest in her family.
The Byrdes’ safety still does not look assured heading into the final moments of the latest season, however, as Helen was under the illusion she’d done enough for her boss to take them out of the picture.
Netflix’s official announcement on Twitter account read that “They’re going to go out with a bang.” So, fans have been speculating that the phrase “out with a bang’ could mean that there is a danger lurking around the Byrdes and potential death is awaiting them.
Whose grave are we going to see? Wendy, Marty or neither of them?
