Paper Mario The Origami King, is an RPG that launched on July 17 for the Nintendo Switch console, the game is the latest addition to the Mario franchise and the sixth in the Paper Mario series; it is also the sequel to the Paper Mario: Color Splash.
The game has a fantastic soundtrack to go along with its impressive graphics, and if you are planning to play it or are already in the game, you might want to check out some of the useful hints given below:
1. Overhead view during a battle
If you press the right trigger during an ongoing battle, you will find that the camera pans into the overhead view. While you don’t need to utilize this view all the time, it definitely helps to provide a different perspective and could be the key to winning a battle.
2. The + button is a lifesaver
The battles get tough at times, and if you find yourself struggling, hold down the +button, this move can give you some extra time for a couple of coins.
It is always easier to take down enemies if they are lined up and the extra time gives you precisely that, so you can eliminate various characters in one go without sustaining any damage, and on the plus side, you get some extra coins.
3. Whack everything!
This goes without saying but seriously, hit everything that you can, there are toads hidden everywhere and if you hit weird-looking plants, logs, and pots you increase your chances of finding the toads which can make all the difference in a battle.
Also, there are various other items that you can find, and there is even an item that can be used to locate toads.
4. The Toad Radar is critical
At the start of Paper Mario The Origami King, you will meet Prof. Toad at the lab on the Picnic Road after you defeat the first boss and the red streamer is removed. The professor will give you a Toad Radar, which is very useful in locating the hidden Toad.
While it is very easy to find toads as explained in the previous hint, but there are places where it gets tricky to find them, the Toad Radar can help you find those sneaky toads, but you do have to head back to the lab to recharge the radar every now and then.
5. Confetti is endless, so waste on, Mario!
Confetti that doesn’t hit the “Not-Bottomless Holes” is not wasted.
The confetti plays an essential role in Paper Mario The Origami King, as it is helpful to cover all the holes in the game; you hurl the confetti into the air and watch it settle over the hole filling them, sometimes the confetti misses its mark but doesn’t worry that confetti is not wasted and you can use it later.
6. Motion controls off
Many people are not comfortable with the motion control system, and they seem to try to make it work as long as they can, but if you don’t feel the same way, just go to the setting and turn it off.
Trust me; you’ll save a lot of time and unnecessary frustration.
7. Timing is everything
When you are jumping an enemy across the turn, you have to understand that timing is one of the most crucial parts of the game and it can be the difference between a swift or a messy battle.
When you are about to turn and jump the enemy, press the A button as you land on their head, the timing of the attack will determine how much damage you do and it’s better to press the button at the moment the expanding circle appears around the whacking tool.
This hint is crucial for people who have not played Paper Mario The Origami King before.
8. Boots and hammers are essentials
Toad Town is a friendly hub outside of Peach’s Castle and the place where you can find a shop for everything. The place that is run by Toads has everything that you might need to make your journey easier, and most of the items that you discover in the game will be available in the shop to be bought.
It will be easier for you on the journey if you buy some extra hammers and also a good supply of iron boots, the boots will help you jump onto the heads of enemies that have spikes such as sidesteppers and spinys.
9. Boss battles are tactical. Go slow.
The Boss battles in Paper Mario The Origami King are a little different from standard battles, instead of lining up the enemy, you line up the arrows here so you can get closer to the boss to attack successfully.
The +button mentioned above will greatly help you to strategize during a boss battle as you can carefully place your attack to inflict maximum damage. Also, remember to read the envelope that appears on the ring before a battle as it provides you with some useful information on how to battle the boss.
