Given the current scenario, many of us are undoubtedly hesitant to return to cinemas, if and when they open. Netflix understood that. Keeping that in mind, Netflix is bringing several big-screen movies directly to our homes!
The movie we’re talking about is called Project Power, a generic superhero flick, or is it!? Read more to find out.
When Does Project Power Release?
Produced by Eric Newman and Bryan Unkeless, Project Power is ready to hit the screens on Friday, August 14th, 2020. The movie will be exclusively released on Netflix, free to watch for all subscribers of the service.
What is Project Power About?
“On the streets of New Orleans, word begins to spread about a mysterious new pill that unlocks superpowers unique to each user. The catch: You don’t know what will happen until you take it. While some develop bulletproof skin, invisibility, and super strength, others exhibit a deadlier reaction. But when the pill escalates crime within the city to dangerous levels, a local cop teams with a teenage dealer and a former soldier fueled by a secret vendetta to fight power with power and risk-taking the pill in order to track down and stop the group responsible for creating it.”
The movie is set mainly around an experimental pill. A pharmaceutical drug that supposedly gives a person superpowers for 5 minutes when taken. The superpowers are said to vary from person to person. Well, life isn’t always that simple and straightforward now, is it? There is a massive disadvantage to the magic pill. If it does not work on you, you may well die.
What motives do the pill-takers have? Are they so strong that they’re ready to face death?

Project Power will see the story of an ex-serviceman trying to put a stop to the bad guys who produce the life-threatening pill, with a much bigger personal motive of wanting to save his daughter from the group.
Who Is In The Cast Of Project Power?
Having an ensemble cast, Project Power is sure to be a treat! The director’s Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost, known for the hit Paranormal Activity series, made sure that the message would be put through with fun and humour.
Ariel Schulman had this to say Project Power to Entertainment Weekly, “We knew that we were not trying to make a darkly serious film because that is just not us.The way we try and get our message across is through fun and humour. You want actors that have that humanity, that can be serious and light.”
To which Henry Joost added, “We didn’t want to make a movie that was relentlessly dark or relentlessly bleak. Just one that reflected life, where sometimes, amid these really scary situations, there’s levity to be found. We were looking for it.”
And so, the cast of Project Power was chosen very carefully. In the lead roles, we have Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx playing ex-serviceman Art, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a local cop, Frank (who also takes the pill, as seen from the Trailer) and Dominique Fishback as Robin, the teenage drug dealer.
Other confirmed cast members include Machine Gun Kelly, Rodrigo Santoro, Amy Landecker and Allen Maldonado.
Is There A Trailer For Project Power?
Written by the writer of the upcoming Batman flick, Mattson Tomlin, Project Power was confirmed back in 2018. The movie has been, probably one of the only movies that have had no footage or pictures leaked for so long. Since it was filmed in New Orleans, the crew must have found it really difficult to keep so much under wraps.
As of now, all we have is the Netflix released Trailer, which was just let out a couple of days ago, on July 15th. The Trailer is definitely action-packed and also gives us an insight into how serious the father is about saving his daughter from the clutches of the baddies.
