The Conjuring Universe first came to be back in 2013 and consists of both Conjuring movies, The Annabelle trilogy, and spin-offs like The Nun and The Curse of La Llorona. The third installment of the Conjuring Trilogy is set to be the latest addition to this Universe.
The first Conjuring movie released back in 2013 and set a precedent for any future movies. The horror genre has never been the same since! While this year has been nothing short of a horror show, we would be lying if we said that we had had enough the genre altogether. Lucky for us, Warner Bros is back with another one of Ed and Lorraine’s cases.
When does The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It release? Find out below.
The Conjuring 3: Release Date
After the success of The Conjuring 2 four years ago in 2016, it went without saying that there would be another instalment in the successful franchise. The Conjuring 3 was confirmed the next year itself, in 2017, but without a fixed release date. Filming began for the movie on June 3, 2019, bringing about heavy speculations that the film would release in 2020.
Lucky for us, the release date remains unchanged. The movie is set to hit theatres on 11th September 2020. But given the current scenario where several studios have rescheduled the release of highly anticipated movies, one can never be too sure. All we can do for now is hope that we the movie soon!
The Conjuring 3: Cast
Since the start of the franchise, the Conjuring movies have shown some of the most daunting cases from the case files of real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will be reprising their roles as Ed and Lorraine, respectively.
Producers Peter Safran and James Wan have been particularly silent about the cast. Possible comebacks include Sterling Jerins, who plays Ed and Lorraine’s daughter, Judy, as well as the demon Valak, played by Bonnie Aarons.
Ruari O’Connor, Sarah Catherine Hook, and Julian Hilliard have also been confirmed to make an appearance in The Conjuring 3.
What is The Conjuring 3 About?
Like the rest of the series, The Conjuring 3 will also be based on a true story. The movie will take inspiration from one of the most chilling cases in and around the US. What started off in 1981 as a usual trial for homicide, Connecticut was witness to the first case in US history where the accused blames his actions on demonic possession. It turns out; he really isn’t lying. Goosebumps!.
As Ed and Lorraine start investigating this claim, they come face to face with forces they have never seen before. The Conjuring 3 will most likely be set in the 80s and narrates the story of how they attempt to the bottom of the case.
Unlike previous installments, The Conjuring 3 will not be revolving around a haunted house and the family being terrorized by the supernatural entities that lie within. This is a fresh change of pace, especially as the ‘haunted house’ gimmick is one of the most overdone gimmicks in horror history.
The change of direction will undoubtedly appeal to all fans of the horror genre at large, and more specifically, those of the Conjuring Universe.
Before we received confirmation of the plot as mentioned above of the upcoming horror movie being produced by New Line Cinemas, countless rumors were stirring, claiming that The Conjuring 3 would feature a demon in the form of a werewolf. Even lead actress Vera Farmiga thought so for a short while!
Now that we have received more insight into this new installment, we can hardly wait for the jump scares and creepy music that is surely headed our way. Hopefully, we get to experience this sooner rather than later.
