The Gift, a supernatural archaeological thriller show gave fans a roller coaster ride with its exciting plot and a lot of compelling drama. The show is adapted from the novel “The Awakening of The World” by Sengul Boyba and is directed by Gonenc Uyanik and Ozan Aciktan.
This show is only the second original Turkish series on Netflix after “The Protector” and is produced by Turkey’s OG Medya.
Kelly Luegenbiehl, the Vice President of Netflix International Originals, said when the show launched, “We believe that our second Turkish original series starring Beren Saat will convey a new and exciting story from Turkey to the world. Our journey began in Istanbul with ‘The Protector’, and continues with our new series that introduces Anatolia’s natural, cultural and historical heritage from Gobeklitepe to Nemrut to our global audience.”
The Gift Season 2: Release Date
Season 1 of The Gift consisting of eight episodes premiered on Netflix on 27th December 2019. Netflix announced that season 2 would drop on 10th September 2020. This announcement has fans excited for the show’s second run.
The first season of this show ends on an ambiguous note, which indicates that the show might get renewed for the second season on Netflix.
The Gift Season 2: Plot
The Gift follows a beautiful young painter, Atiye who belongs to an affluent family in Istanbul. Atiye is assigned to her first-ever solo exhibit, and it seems to be going perfectly well until she gets a nightmare that disturbs her deeply. She then meets a renowned archaeologist Erhan, and that changes everything in her life.
Erhan discovers some secrets in Gobeklitepe, one of the most ancient temples on Earth. Atiye has been making similar symbols to those found for as long as she can remember.
These ancient symbols lie in the ruin of the temple, and although Atiye has never seen these symbols in her life, she is somehow connected to it. Atiye then joins the quest to find out the truth behind the secret that has turned her perfect life upside down.
The Gift Season 2: Cast
The female protagonist, Atiye, which means “gift” in Turkish is played by Beren Saat. She is also one of the highest-paid actresses in Turkey, and has starred in movies like, ‘Aşkımızda Ölüm Var’, ‘Güz Sancısı’, ‘Gecenin Kanatları’, ‘Rhino Season’ and ‘Benim Dünyam’. Beren Saat has also starred in the lead role in series ‘İntikam’.
Season 2 will likely feature actors like Basak Koklukaya, Civan Canova, Tim Seyfi, Mehmet Gunsur, Metin Akdulger and Melisa Senolsun.
The Gift Season 2: Trailer
Although there is no official trailer as of yet, Netflix announced the release date with a teaser on 17th August 2020.
