The Haunting of the Hill House Season 1 was inspired by Shirley Jackson’s 1959 Gothic novel, and it became one of the strongest new horror series when it crept onto Netflix in 2018. The theme in which we invested our time was worth it and extremely excited for the journey into the dark, unsettling world of Henry James’ iconic work, The Turn of the Screw, in the next season.
So here’s everything we know about The Haunting of Hill House Season 2, which is actually known to be ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’, which will follow a new storyline – this time based on Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw – which includes some of the familiar faces from Season 1.

The Haunting of Hill House creator recently Mike Flanagan announced that the series will be released before the year ends and claims that coronavirus pandemic did not slow down work on the production.
As he spoke to ReelBlend’s podcast in July 2020, Flanagan said, “I don’t expect it to be delayed one bit. We didn’t really miss a step, believe it or not. We had already wrapped before the whole COVID shutdown hit all the productions.”
He also added that it wouldn’t be too long before more information arrives and claimed, “We’ve been jamming through post that Netflix posted about the incoming for the newest season. It’s been going great. It’s definitely later this year. It’s not going to get kicked off into 2021, or anything. Everything’s on schedule.”

The Haunting of Hill House borrows its title from Henry James’ ghostly novella, ‘The Turn of the Screw’, and the creator of the series, Mike Flanagan confirmed that the author’s ghost stories have inspired the Season 2. He also added that it will be “much scarier than season one”.
“We’re looking at all the ghost stories of Henry James as the jumping-off point for the season,” he told ReelBlend, “so it very much is a whole new deal. For Henry James fans, it’s going to be pretty wild. I already think it’s much scarier than season one, so I’m very excited about it.”
The 1898 novel follows the story of a governess who ends up looking after two children at a manor house in Essex.
