It has been three decades since the OG Top Gun graced our screens and now that Top Gun Maverick directed by Joseph Kosinski is announced, fans all over the globe need to be slightly more patient for the film’s release.
Trust us, the second half of the year will be a tad better than what it is right now, as Top Gun 2: Maverick is finally going to drop in the nearest theatres.

Release date of Top Gun 2
The sequel to the OG film was initially going to be released on July 12, 2019, but that did not work out. However, Top Gun Maverick was moved to a new release date of June 24 and July 17 2020, as things finally began to look up.
Call it bad juju, the film was struck with yet another delay, by you know what. Now Top Gun 2 is scheduled to release in theatres on December 23, 2020, in both USA and UK.
Here’s what Tom Cruise had to say to his fans through his Instagram handle— “I know many of you have waited 34 years. Unfortunately, it will be a little longer. Top Gun: Maverick will fly this December. Stay safe, everyone.”
Cast of Top Gun Maverick:
Tom Cruise plays the titular character Maverick in this film. The role of Penny Benjamin is played by Jennifer Connelly and Val Kilmer dons the character of Iceman in their upcoming movie Top Gun Maverick. Additionally, Monica Barbaro, Jay Ellis and Lewis also make it to the cast of this movie and they play the characters— Phoenix, Payback and Bob respectively.
Plot of Top Gun 2:
Nearly 30 years of service as of the Navy’s top operators, Pete Mitchell AKA “Maverick” finds himself in a place where he belongs— pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him.
You can expect to explore the relationship between humans and unmanned drones in the modern military. However, Paramount Pictures is not letting too many details about the sequel slip out and keeping the curiosity tight.
Overall it is going to be an action-packed cinematic experience.
