Just as its name, ‘The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina‘ will give you chills. We know that Locke & Key has received both positive and negative reviews with the darker elements in the series. However, if you are looking for a balance between darker and light elements then give this series a try.
The plot of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina revolves around a young half-witch named Sabrina who goes about dealing with the antiquated beliefs of her satanic religion. In addition to that, she deals the growing pressures of high school all along with figuring out where her position lies in the dark prophecies of Hell.
Netflix made its way by adapting from several comic books that revolve around the plots similar to that of Locke & Key. That means, the series, including the recently released ‘October Faction‘. The series has been inspired by the comic, written by Steve Niles and Damien Worm.
October Faction introduces us to a family of Allens, where a couple comes together to become the team of supernatural monster hunters. They journey to their homeland along with their teenage twins. The neighbourhood has no idea that their next-door neighbour slays monsters. However, despite the secrecy, they must fight and defeat the monsters to protect the town.
Another one of the tv shows like Locke & Key which has caught a lot of attention with its twisted time travel plot. is ‘Dark‘ The German-language series starts off with a small town where a child suddenly disappears out of nowhere. This disappearance marks the first step into the deep pit of mysteries and secrets. The citizens come across the mysterious wormhole that is placed in the hidden caves underneath the town.
The families come out of their homes in order to find the children; however, it’s all in vain. Then day by day, secrets unleash that he must have been trapped in a time loop, or worse.
A Series Of Unfortunate Events
Lemony Snicket’s ‘A Series Of Unfortunate Events’ has been adapted by Netflix which stars Neil Patrick Harris as the protagonist named Count Olaf, as he tries to take away the fortune of his relatives, the Baudelaire children.
The series is said to be a children’s story although it does come across a few dark themes. That is, Olaf continuously tries to murder children throughout the series. However, the series goes down the rabbit hole where unfortunate events take place, making it a light-hearted series to watch the whole family.
Lastly, this series revolves around a young teen named Magne, who returns to a town known as Edda along with his family after several years. When they arrive they discover that their town is being polluted by a rich fortune family in Norway. Later, they are revealed to be ancient Jotunn frost giants.
Magne soon discovers that he is the physical embodiment of the god Thor, Therefore the series follows him figuring out his powers. He must also look into the issues of the town and its citizens, for they are known to have their own mythological connections to the Asgardian realm.
