Matt LeBlanc, Born as Matthew Steven LeBlanc in Newton, Massachusetts on 25th July 1967, the American actor of Italian, French and Canadian ancestry will always be linked to his time on “Friends”, but in recent years his career has seen a revival.
Matt played a lovable goofball named Joey Tribbiani for ten years on the NBC sitcom, which had a total of 236 episodes. Before “Friends”, Matt LeBlanc appeared in a few shows which include “Top of the Heap”, “TV 101”, “Vinnie & Bobby” and “Married… with Children”. Then in 1994, he was cast in a role that would change his life forever.
While working as Joey Tribbiani for a decade, Matt LeBlanc did appear in other films like “Lookin’ Italian”, “Lost in Space”, “All the Queen’s Men”, “Ed” and in 2003, reprised his role as Jason Gibbs for “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle”.
Although now, we can all look back and say the role of Joey Tribbiani was made for Matt LeBlanc, as a matter of fact, he was not the only actor who was considered for the position. Vince Vaughn auditioned for Joey, but eventually, we all know who played it perfectly.
Though “Friends” ended in 2004, Matt continued to play Joey Tribbiani for the spin-off series “Joey”. “Joey” took the timeslot of “Friends” and the show followed Matt’s character as he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his acting career.
None of the original cast members of “Friends” appeared in Joey, and the series featured few of Joey’s family members. Matt’s show “Joey” eventually was cancelled after two seasons due to the show’s poor ratings. Matt LeBlanc after “Joey” took a break from acting.
What Is Matt LeBlanc Up to These Days?
The actor’s career revival started in 2010 after he was an executive producer to a western called “Jonah Hex”. Matt LeBlanc then goes on to play himself in a comedy series called “Episodes”, a series in which he was a regular until 2017. Matt was next seen alongside fellow “Friends” co-star Lisa Kudrow, in a comedy series called “Web Therapy”. In “Lovesick” which released in 2014, the audience saw him as Charlie Darby.
The actor finally returned to TV and started hosting the automobile series “Top Gear”, which he was a part of from 2016 to 2019. His hosting on the hit-British automobile series lasted 24 episodes. The critically acclaimed show “Episodes” in which Matt played himself earned him the prestigious Golden Globe Award.
Matt LeBlanc as of now has not announced any new show that he will be a part of, though if you want to get a glimpse of him, he can be found on the CBS sitcom “Man With A Plan”. The series “Man With A Plan” is set to return for its fourth season in 2020.
In this show, Matt plays the lead character named Adam Burns, who must deal with raising three children after his wife returns to work while managing to run a construction business with his brother. The show is set in suburban Pittsburgh and stars Liza Snyder, Matt Cook, Stacy Keach, Tim Meadows, Sherri Shepherd, Kevin Nealon and Grace Kaufman.
