Norman Mark Reedus is an American actor and model. Born in Florida, Reedus was into the creative arts from the beginning of his life. Norman Reedus has contributed a lot of shows, not only through his acting, but also as a photographer, sculptor, painter, and video artist.
His career in the filming industry also began through what can be considered as blind luck, when he was asked at a party in LA if he was open to acting in a play.
This marked the beginning of a spectacular career in both film and television industry.
Daryl Dixon And The Walking Dead
One of Norman Reedus’ most prominent roles was that of Daryl Dixon in the popular horror drama, The Walking Dead, which he took in 2010.
Based on a book series, the show follows a group of friends and family who live in an apocalyptic world filled with zombies and have to fight for survival.
Reedus went to audition for the role of Merle Dixon and lost out, but the showrunners created an original character for Reedus which was not in the books, and that’s how Daryl Dixon came to be.
The role earned him a lot of popularity and was one of the most famous characters of the series.
The creator of the comic book, Robert Kirkman, mentioned that the show was blessed to have Norman Reedus play the role of Daryl.
Norman Reedus got a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Saturn Awards for the role of Daryl Dixon.
Film and Television Career
Norman Reedus’ first major debut in the film industry was the film Mimic as Jeremy, and then the role of Mac in the movie Red Canyon, directed by Giovanni Rodriguez.
In the 1999 film, The Boondock Saints, Reedus played the role of Murphy MacManus, a role he reprises in its 2019 sequel, Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day.
Other Notable works of Reedus include Scud in Blade II, Nate in the show Charmed, as well as a role in Hello Herman.
Finally, in 2010, Reedus got his career-defining role of Daryl Dixon on The Walking Dead. The show not only made Reedus very popular but also earned him numerous awards.
Presently Norman is working on reality series Ride with Norman Reedus, which premiered back in 2016.
Personal Life
Norman Reedus started dating Helena Christensen back in 1998; the couple had a son though they were never married. The relationship came to an end in 2003, and the two of them share custody of their son.
In 2015, Diane Kruger and Norman Reedus were in a relationship after filming together for the movie Sky, through the relationship the two have a daughter who was born in 2018.
Apart from being an actor, Norman is also involved in painting and sculpting, and his artworks are displayed in Berlin, Frankfurt and New York. Norman Reedus also released a book based on photography in 2013 called ‘The Sun’s Coming Up… Like A Big Bald Head’.
Video games
Movies and films aren’t his only forte as Reedus is quite popular in the video game genre too, as he reprised his role of Daryl Dixon on The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, a video game that came out in 2013.
Reedus was also supposed to star Guillermo del Toro’s reboot horror game Silent Hill, but the game was cancelled in 2015 due to studio issues.
Another popular title that Reedus has starred in is Death Stranding, a game by Kojima.
